Ketsia Sadler - Show Me the Money!

 

“Know More, Pay Less” is the motto for College CAFE (Consulting and Financial Education) founded by Dr. Ketsia Alerte Sadler to help parents and their children navigate the college financial aid process.  The mission is to empower families with resources to make college affordable.  She reaches out to the community through individual, small group, and community-based programs and services.  A Registered Nurse with 26 years of experience, she has a Doctorate in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Currently in her 20th year as the School Nurse at Dr. Leroy McCloud Elementary School, she continues with her other mission of helping children learn how to develop healthy lifestyles that will continue into adulthood.  Dr. Sadler is the Chair of the Health Committee of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Bergen-Passaic Chapter, is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Bergen County Alumnae Chapter, serves on the Board for the Health Department of Englewood, NJ and is an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood New Jersey. She is of Haitian descent and speaks French, Kreol and Spanish.

Lola Brown - Financial Aid

 

Dr. Lola Brown is a scientist, educator, and entrepreneur. She is the Assistant Dean for Research and Assistant Professor of Research Education in Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine. In addition to her leadership roles in higher education, Dr. Brown has a business to help companies and individuals achieve success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). She has worked with organizations including Weill Cornell Medicine, MIT, Stevens Institute of Technology, NJIT and the Boys and Girls Club.  Dr. Brown’s training and expertise as a scientist, educator, entrepreneur and academic administrator gives her a unique perspective into the challenges and the promise of post-secondary education, at both private elite and large public institutions. Over the years, she has given numerous workshops on various topics including applying for college as a STEM major, preparing for graduate school, and how to achieve success in your career. She has helped students gain acceptance into the top schools in the country and receive more than $200,000 in scholarships.

Dorian Smith - “I Love My HBCU” Panel Moderator

 

Dorian graduated from Hampton University in 2008 with a B.A. in Sociology. From there, Dorian went on to get his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, and currently works as an attorney for the City of Newark. He has a background in Labor and Employment law, as well as commercial real estate. Dorian’s credits his experience at Hampton for helping him become the man and the professional he is today.

Frank Andrisani - The FASFA

 

With 15 years of school counseling experience, Dr. Frank is well-versed in student success based on standards in academic, career, and personal/social development. His current work as a Licensed Associate Counselor, College Consultant, School Counselor, and Adjunct Professor provide Dr. Frank with the necessary tools to effectively guide his clients.  Most recently, Dr. Frank's commitment to combine his passion to work as a college consultant and counseling professional led Dr. Frank to receive his LAC (Licensed Associate Counselor). Currently, Dr. Frank practices at a clinical mental health agency. Dr. Frank’s proficiency in both Spanish and Italian allow him to thoroughly assist a diverse client population.

Damyen Davis - The College Transition: What TOP College Students Know that MOST College Students Don't Know" 

 

As Director of the Office of the Summer Intensive Program, Dr. Davis serves on the President’s Leadership Team at Bergen Community College and is responsible for leading Bergen’s college-bridge, college-readiness, and student achievement programs.  Dr. Davis is the C.E.O. of Davis Counseling & Education Consulting, Inc. that provides culturally responsive, dynamic, and transformative counseling and educational services. He is a proud alumnus of Hampton University. Dr. Davis has a bachelor’s degree in History and holds a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated and is the founder and Board of Trustee member of Phi Psi Lambda Leadership Society Incorporated, a Greek-lettered leadership organization that develops, empowers, and advances the achievements of males-of-color in education nationally.
