Chartered in 1971, Iota Epsilon Omega Chapter has been a positive force in Bergen County, New Jersey for over fifty years. We have dedicated ourselves to providing service not only to the residents of Bergen County, but all of mankind. You have seen us over the decades as we registered voters, beautified neighborhoods, educated our youth, sponsored the arts, strolled to the polls, and sponsored programs and services related to health, economics, and education. We have advocated for literacy across all ages, helped build youth leaders, and planted trees. Since 1971, this chapter has raised and distributed over $400,000 in scholarships to the youth of Bergen County! Iota Epsilon Omega reigns supreme in service as we implement programs and initiatives that support our national platform.

Under the direction of our International President, Danette Anthony Reed, the platform for the 2022-2026 administration is Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. The sorority seeks to build upon our rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy. Strengthen Our Sisterhood is the “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. For more than a century, sisterhood has driven Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to be an indomitable force for good, locally, nationally, and internationally. We will take time to fellowship and form lifelong relationships based on affinity, love, trust, respect, and shared goals and interests, while at the same time, building on our foundation to serve others.

Initiative 2: Empower Our Families
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has a strong history of supporting and servicing families, for we understand a healthy family is the foundation of a healthy community. We will take a multi-generational approach to fortify families within our communities by addressing child hunger and promoting positive youth development and leadership, mental well-being, and senior life.
 
Initiative 3: Build Our Economic Wealth
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is launching its most progressive and revolutionary economic initiatives this century. We seek to encourage and equip our members to place key strategies into action to build personal, organizational, and community economic wealth. At the same time, we continue to educate the community on beneficial economic strategies and programs.

Initiative 4: Enhance Our Environment
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has the power to galvanize our active members, influence our inactive members and create a ripple effect that will make a significant positive impact on our environment. We will continue to recycle, beautify playgrounds, and plant trees where needed.
 
Initiative 5: Advocate for Social Justice
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has always been at the forefront of social justice to promote fairness and equity. Whether it’s through voter registration, voter education, or advocating our national agenda of voting rights and social justice, we stand in the gap to empower our communities and act in the best interests of all people through social advocacy and justice.

Initiative 6: Uplift Our Local Community
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority reigns supreme in its mission of “Service to All Mankind. We will celebrate excellence within this community, promote a focus on service, stimulate effective culture, and showcase best practices.
